Summit is a unique competition designed purely for plays! We do not accept any, short stories, journalism, critical essays, poems, etc

Guidelines

Eligibility

  • Be 17 years of age or younger at the time of submission.

  • Entrants aged 13 or older may submit on their own behalf without a parent or guardian's signature, in accordance with applicable law.

  • Entrants under 13 years of age may participate only with the express written consent of a parent or legal guardian. A parent or guardian must complete and sign the Summit Parental Consent Form on the entrant's behalf prior to submission.

  • Entries submitted by individuals over the age of 17 will be disqualified without notice.

 

Formatting

  • Include your name and the title of your play on the front page and front pages begin as Page 0. 

Front Page must cover:

Title

Author(s) Full Name

Date of Birth

Age (as of submission date)

School Name 

Teacher Name (if applicable)

Email

Phone Number (may be parent or other trusted individual's)

  • Include a list of character names and descriptions.

  • Include a description of the setting and props.

  • OPTIONAL: Include notes for how you might want your play to be read, produced, etc.

  • Number every page of your script. The title page is numbered as 0

  • Your play must be submitted as a PDF through our forms unless directed otherwise.

  • Click the button below to see how we format our scripts.

  • Lastly, your plays must not be more than 20 pages long. This is our limit for pages. We recommend you use either Arial, Times New Roman, or Calibri. The font size should not be less than 11.

Substance

  • If you decide to swear, make sure it has purpose. Don't just swear repeatedly without meaning. All offensive terms and slurs must be blurred. Summit doesn't accept racist and other harmful slurs that may be uncomfortable to some readers.

  • It's great to talk about real world issues and problems. Make sure that your content wouldn't be offense to anyone or a group. You shouldn't have a moral or message that says to hate or target a certain group of people.

  • Remeber, there are no limits when it comes to writing plays. It can be as unrealistic as you want, as long as it's original

AI Policy

  • AI is a great tool you can use for reasearch or brainstorming. However, the final product should be 100% written by you. There shouldn't be any parts that are totally AI generated. Summit will be checking over to see if these plays do contain AI or not.

Fees

  • We don't have fees!

 

Deadline

  • All entries must be submitted by October 26th 2026. 

Prizes

  • Summit will publish plays who recieve an award. These plays may be purchased by other people. Playwrights can also purchase a copy of their published play.

  • If possible, Summit may try to produce your play. This isn't confirmed yet and will likely not happen in the first cycle of submissions.
